My Favourite Fitness Gifts

Fitness started as a hobby for me, became a job, and is now integrated into my entire lifestyle. Needless to say, my Christmas wish list always has fitness items on it. These are my favourite fitness gifts to give (and receive!).

6 Fitness Gifts for Anyone on Your List

1. The Stick. This tool is described as “a toothbrush for muscles”. This massaging tool is great before working out to warm up your muscles, and post workout to reduce lactic acid buildup after exercise. It is flexible, comes in a variety of sizes, and is great at targeting pressure points anywhere on your body. The Stick is just as beneficial for those at the beginning of their fitness journey, as it is for the well-seasoned athlete.

2. The Toe Gizmo. This little Pilates apparatus always gets the curiosity of my clients. I love it because you can use it at home to stretch, strengthen, and gain better control of your foot movement. The Toe Gizmo makes a great fitness gift for someone who travels, because of its small size.

3. Foam Roller. If you have attended any of our mat classes, you likely have enjoyed using a foam roller as a prop. These rollers are great for so many things: massaging tight muscles, for chest-opening exercises, working on balance, or for modifying exercises. To get the most use out of your roller, I recommend a long one with a smooth finish.

4. Toe Sox. Grippy five-toe socks will keep your toes warm in the winter months. I love that you can still move your toes individually, as if you are barefoot. Also, I find that toe-socks stay put better than toe-less socks, and don’t twist on your foot while you are exercising. You can get Toe Sox in the b.PILATES & FITNESS studio, or their website.

5. Fitness Clothing. Yes, it’s true. Lululemon is usually on my wish list! But I have other fitness clothing brands I love too. So much so that I even wrote a blog post about my favourite workout wear.

6. Books. There are so many great books, that I am not even sure where to start! (Hmm.. I see another blog post in my future here.) Obviously, fitness is one of my favourite topics to read about, but you are just as likely to find me reading about Pilates, feet, or anatomy as happiness, organization, or art! Three books on my to-read list this holiday season are Becoming, by Michelle Obama, Me: Elton John Official Biography by Elton John, and Building a Storybrand, by Donald Miller.

The holidays are the perfect time to let someone know you are thinking of them; and what better way than with a gift that says “self-care”? I’d love to know – what is on YOUR fitness gift wish list this year?
