It’s nearing the end of November, leading into very exciting and busy times. The Winter holiday preparations have begun, our stores are decked with Christmas decorations, and craft sales and Christmas parties are happening. All of this can feel so overwhelming that fitting in time for yourself can seem near impossible. BUT…as the slogan says…YOU CAN DO IT!
How can you do this? How can you start now and keep exercising your way to the New Year (and past)?
Schedule it, while you are marking down your social commitments add in those workouts.
Even a short workout is beneficial. Take 20 to 30 minutes in your day to do something active. Take a walk, hit the gym, find a great online option for workouts that you can easily do in the comfort of your own home.
Find yourself a coach or personal trainer now, before the rush in January. December can be a slower time for coaches and trainers so appointments will likely be more readily available and you will be in a good routine come January. Maybe you will only have the time in your schedule to go once or twice a week at this busy time of year. That’s amazing, and so much better than quitting altogether or waiting until the new year.
Incorporate exercise into your shopping. Parking can be hard to get at the mall during the Christmas rush, so go to the outskirts of the parking lot and walk. When you get inside the mall, take the stairs rather than the escalator or elevator.
While wrapping gifts or cooking, take timeout breaks to stretch, or do 10 squats or lunges every time you wash your hands. Keep it simple, and be proud that you did some exercise rather than none at all.
You’ll be heading into the New Year feeling great with routines and habits that have already established.
