It seems like vacation puts a real dent in our fitness momentum. Whether it is summer relaxation, all-inclusive, or travelling for work, my body seems to KNOW something is off, and starts to punish me pretty quickly. That is why I fall back on these five Pilates exercises you can do anywhere.
For me, I find that those “relaxing” holidays are the ones that do me in the most. Just this past week, I spent a gorgeous time in Mexico. Even though I was enjoying the break from routine, all of that time in those blue lounge chairs, swim-up bars, and at the beach made my body hurt! For me, it is a dull, annoying pain in my hip flexors and low back.
Sure, I complained (a bit), but the fitness instructor inside told me to get up off my butt. I ALWAYS feel better after moving my body – even if it is just a little bit! I found myself sneaking to the corner of the resort gym, or even in the hotel room between activities – doing these five exercises:

Ahhhh! Pilates truly is my friend! After doing a few repetitions of the above, my body felt so much better the next day that I got up and hit the gym the next morning for a core workout and run on the treadmill.
The big takeaway here is to listen to your body! Just because you are sipping margaritas or lounging beachside doesn’t mean you need to suffer through the aches and pains of an irregular schedule, hotel beds, and a break from your fitness routine.
