Meet Melissa Nagai, a seasoned fitness professional whose journey in the wellness industry has been nothing short of inspiring. Melissa embarked on her fitness career in the early 1990s, immersing herself in the dynamic world of high-energy aerobics, weight training, and spin classes. However, it was her discovery of Pilates that truly transformed her approach to fitness and set her on a path of continuous learning and evolution.
Dedicating herself to ongoing education and training, Melissa has amassed an impressive array of certifications, solidifying her expertise as a Pilates Teacher, Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and in specialized areas such as Kettlebell and Ultimate Sandbag training. Her commitment to expanding her knowledge reflects in her ability to offer a diverse and comprehensive approach to fitness for her clients.
Melissa attributes her personal and professional growth to the profound impact of Pilates on her life. She firmly believes in the importance of finding balance in physical fitness activities to ensure longevity and the ability to continue enjoying them for years to come. Melissa’s philosophy is grounded in the idea that fitness is not just a routine; it’s a lifestyle that should be sustainable and enjoyable.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Melissa shares her life with her husband, Craig, whom she has been married to since 1996. Together, they take pride in raising three beautiful and intelligent grown daughters, along with their four-legged companions—a dog and a budgie. Family holds a special place in Melissa’s heart, and she treasures the moments spent traveling, as well as outdoor activities like running, skiing, cycling, hiking, and paddleboarding.
Melissa’s personal pursuits reflect her diverse interests and accomplishments. As a marathoner and former highland dancer, she has embraced a range of physical activities. While interior design was once her primary profession and fitness a side gig, Pilates has become the focal point that transformed both her life and career. Melissa’s love for Pilates resonates in her passion for guiding others toward a balanced and fulfilling fitness journey, making her a cherished mentor and role model in the fitness community.
Meet Kelsey, a vibrant and multi-talented individual who wears many hats with flair. As an educator at our West Studio, Kelsey brings a unique blend of experiences and expertise to the world of fitness and well-being.
Kelsey’s journey into the realm of movement and wellness began with her first job in Parks and Recreation, setting the stage for a career dedicated to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. While pursuing her Sports Science Diploma at Douglas College, Kelsey showcased her athletic prowess on the soccer field.
In 2007, Kelsey earned her first Pilates mat certification from BCRPA, marking the beginning of her specialization in this transformative practice. Not one to be confined by borders, she took her passion for fitness to the high seas, working as a fitness instructor on a cruise ship—an experience that added a unique dimension to her skill set.
Furthering her commitment to Pilates, Kelsey completed the rigorous 900-hour teacher training program at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado, in 2009. Her dedication to holistic well-being extends beyond Pilates, as she has been a registered Massage Therapist since 2015, combining the benefits of movement and touch therapy.
Beyond the studio and massage table, Kelsey leads a bustling life at home, juggling the roles of a loving mother to three children, caretaker of two dogs, and partner to her husband. Her dynamic personality extends to the realm of arts, having delved into Hula (Polynesian) dance in her early 20s and reigniting her passion for dance this year.
In her precious moments of personal time, Kelsey indulges in a variety of fitness activities, including group fitness classes, weight training, and, of course, Pilates. While currently navigating the joys of parenthood, she harbors dreams of returning to the mountains once her children are a bit older.
Kelsey’s journey is a testament to her commitment to holistic well-being, a fusion of movement, therapy, and a zest for life. As she continues to inspire and uplift those around her, Kelsey stands as a shining example of a dedicated educator, therapist, and enthusiast of a balanced and joyful existence.
