At b.Pilates & Fitness, we teach the Traditional Classical Pilates method in a welcoming studio environment designed to support long-term movement health.
Our instructors guide clients through the natural progressions of the Pilates system, helping build strength, mobility, flexibility, and better balance throughout the body. With thoughtful instruction and individual attention, clients develop a deeper understanding of the method and how it supports their everyday lives.
Many of our clients continue practicing with us for years as they build strength, resolve imbalances, and experience the lasting benefits of Pilates.
Our instructors hold comprehensive certifications and bring years of experience teaching small groups and individuals. They focus on teaching proper form, encouraging mindful movement, and helping you feel confident in your practice. You’ll find instructors who understand how to adapt Pilates for different bodies and lifestyles.
She began her fitness career at 23 while studying interior design, first as an aerobics instructor, then as a spin teacher and personal trainer. In 2006, she earned her mat Pilates certification, and in 2008 entered her first comprehensive teacher training under mentor Emmie Li — an experience that shaped her foundation in the Pilates system.
After years working in gyms and studios, Melissa took a leap into ownership, opening b.Pilates & Fitness with just two reformer/tower units and mats. Her commitment to mastering the work has never stopped. She continues to train weekly with her own teachers, works with strength and running coaches, and travels regularly for workshops and conferences.
In 2022, she launched the B.Pilates Classical Pilates Teacher Training Program. In 2024, she completed The Classical Progressions Program with Karen Frischmann, who studied primarily under Jay Grimes and also Romana — further deepening her understanding of the Classical lineage.
Melissa specializes in helping active adults from their mid-30s to mid-70s stay strong in their chosen activities. Using the Pilates system as both pre-hab and rehab, she delivers intelligent, corrective programming that also happens to be a challenging, full-body workout.
Outside the studio, she stays active through running, hiking, biking, skiing, and paddle boarding. A former Scottish dancer who has always loved sport and creativity, she believes in saying yes to new challenges. She and her husband have three adult daughters and cherish family gatherings, travel, beaches, mountains, and discovering cozy coffee shops along the way.

Melissa Nagai
I completed the Comprehensive Classical Training at b.Pilates & Fitness, choosing the classical path to fully understand the Pilates system and how the apparatus and mat work together. That strong foundation allows me to teach with clarity and confidence.
I continue to attend workshops and retreats to deepen my knowledge and strengthen my own practice — because when I feel it in my body, I can teach it more effectively in yours.
I love working with all ages, especially beginners and seniors starting a new movement journey. Watching clients discover what they’re capable of is the most rewarding part of my work.
Fun Fact: I did Highland dance with Melissa and her two younger sisters. Thanks to dance, I met Princess Diana at Buckingham Palace during a 1990 Britain tour.
Outside the studio, you’ll find me skiing, running, swimming, walking my dog in the forest, reading, or having kitchen dance parties to my mom’s old records.
