Meet Nicole, Pilates Lover!

 

Nicole is a busy woman, who balances being a wife, mom of 3 and working two jobs.   Of course, I love that her favourite exercise activities are running and Pilates, a wonderful combo if I do say so myself!  I’m always impressed with how dedicated Nicole is to fitting in her workouts each week and the enthusiasm she brings to class, so I asked her to share her Pilates story:

“I was living in Barbados when I first heard about Pilates, a friend told me about a studio opening up. I decided to try a few mat classes, and fell in love right away!  I have never been one to go to a gym.  I love to run outdoors and have always done my own little workouts at home.  After attending a few Pilates classes, I really started understanding what it was all about.  I knew that this was for me!

 

Having strong abs and a flat tummy has always been important to me.   Pilates is all about the core and strengthening your abdominals. (Along with all a whole lot of other muscles!)

I had 3 c sections and after each child, I was scared that I would never get my abs back.   With Pilates, I am honestly in better shape now than before my kids. Making time for Pilates a minimum of 2 to 3 times a week has totally changed my body!  The Pilates body is not about having a lot of big muscles its more about having a lean, toned body.  I have been enjoying Pilates for over 10 years now and will never stop! I also enjoy running outdoors.  I really find that Pilates and running are a great combo. 

My Pilates goal would be as good as my instructor one day!  I love that there are so many different exercises and how my body feels after trying something new and then finally getting it, “like the teaser” I actually LOVE IT NOW!  I love to be challenged.  Pilates will for sure challenge your body, you will feel muscles you didn’t even know you had.  It is truly amazing!!

I wouldn’t say I have a favourite Pilates machine, I love all of them. I even purchased a mini reformer, which I try to use at least once a week, combined with my classes with Melissa and running.

Pilates for sure has changed my body for the better.   I have better posture, am more lean and stronger than I ever was. I have a pretty busy life, but I will always make the time for my Pilates. It’s a life changer, and I love it!
