Free Exercise Videos: This Week is All About Glutes

Are you following b.PILATES & FITNESS on Instagram? If not, pop on over, because each week I share free exercise videos, tips, and tutorials to help you get stronger when you aren’t in class. Last week, it was all about strengthening your glutes.

The Amazing Gluteus Maximus

Some Instagram feeds are full of booty pictures, but not mine! My feed is full of exercises to build the largest muscle in the body for reasons other than bathing suit season. The glutes have the important job of keeping the trunk of the body in an erect posture, and are part of nearly every other upright movement you make.

Our glutes support us all day; sitting, standing, maintaining balance, or even lifting a heavy bag of groceries. Did you know that the glutes are the chief muscles that aids in walking up stairs? For athletes, stronger glutes will increase your performance, by helping you achieve greater hip extension in running and walking, as well as a more powerful jump.

With all of the hard work the glutes are responsible for, it is no wonder that physiotherapists and other health professionals talk about “activating your glutes” to help you out of back or hip pain. If the glutes are weak, other muscles have to pitch in where they shouldn’t – creating pain and muscle imbalances.

Free Exercise Video to Strengthen Your Glutes

On Instagram last week, I shared four exercises that you can do at home to start strengthening your glutes now. These simple, free exercises will help make all of your daily movements easier, improve your sport performance, and help you build a strong bodily foundation.

Why wait for an injury or pain to happen? Be proactive, and take care of your body so it can keep supporting you for a long time.

This Week’s Free Exercises

Each week I’m sharing free exercise videos, tips, and tutorials to support your Pilates and fitness journey from home between classes. Coming up next are core exercises that anyone can try. (I promise they are easier than they look!)

What are you curious about learning? Let me know, and you could see your suggestions in your Instagram feed next!
